Sony will offer FREE MMO

Following a model more prevalent in Asian MMOs, Sony Online Entertainment President, John Smedley, announced that his company would be breaking from a subscription model and releasing a 'free' game.

It doesn't matter seeing as how thier games are crap anyway.

Mario Bros. played by London Symphony Orchestra

Mario Bros. played by London Symphony Orchestra: "You got to hear this!"

This is pretty great, I love how they made the coin sounds. It is nice to see video game composers get some recognition in the "real" world.

Super Mario Bros. in 5 minutes

This is simply amazing. Unbelievable. SMB for the NES cleared in 5:06. video (xvid) at http://www.archive.org/download/Mario1_506/Mario1_506.avi

This is pretty cool, back when I had a working nintendo my dad could beat Super Mario Bros. in about 10 minutes or so. This is just crazy though.

Zelda III NES cart may be real!

A seller on eBay is purported to have found at a flea market (for $20) a very early copy of The Legend of Zelda III for the original NES. Seems like the cart may be real!

Very cool, I hope he puts out the rom, I would like to see what Nintendo had in mind back then. Some are saying he should donate the game to a museum, which would be very cool. But I don't know what museum would be interested in it.

1.21 Gigawatts!

A very detailed model built out of Lego. There is a also a magazine cover mock-up featuring the time machine vs. Kitt.
Sweet! 1.21 milliwatts of power to the flux transistor is all you would need.

I can see Doc standing there telling us "I didn't have time to build this model to scale."

Mario Paint Revolution?

Apparently Mario Paint for the Super NES will be release sometime next year for both the upcoming Nintendo Revolution and the current Handheld Nintendo DS. I don't think I'll be picking this up, but I'm sure it will drive a few sales to the system. Thanks Gaming Horizon

1000 pound butter sculpture of Vader and Yoda at the Tulsa State Fair

Each year at the Tulsa State Fair, an artist is commissioned to make a sculpture out of butter. In past years, cows, farmers, and baseball players were created out of hundreds of pounds of butter. This year, in celebration of Star Wars's final episode, TSF is featuring Darth Vader and Yoda, all dairy-like.

This is both cool and strangly gross at the same time, for some reason that seeing that much butter just doesn't sit well with my stomach. What I would like to know is how did they get the rock to float? I don't see any wires, I'm sure they are there.

Jack Thompson calls cops on Penny-Arcade

Our best buddy, Jack has "has tried to enlist the efforts of the Seattle Police Department in a dust-up with gamer website Penny Arcade."

This is just too funny. The more he tries to grab the spotlight shouting I'm right I'm right all day long, the more he shows just how foolish he is. I'm really looking forward to Penny-Arcade's retort.

WoW to be used to model disease outbreaks

NPR program All Things Considered reported yesterday that scientists are considering how the recent accidental spread of a plague in massively multiplayer game World of Warcraft might help them develop model responses to real-world disease outbreaks.

This is just too awesome.

Is Nintendo Smarter Than We Think?

This is a pretty good article about how Nintendo hasn't quite lost thier minds with the Nintendo Revolution. I agree with this, at first I thought the big N must have gone totally loo loo. But after reading more I'm feeling more and more optimistic about my favorite game maker.

Mario Basketball and more

I found this on Four Color Rebellion

First let me start by saying that I don't like basketball in the least. However this has piqued my interest. Why? My buddy would tell you it's because I'm a Nintendo fanboy, which I almost admit. The reason is the Mario sports games tend to be a lot of fun.

I don't like golf, not one bit, but my favorite game on my Gamecube was Mario Golf. I'm not a soccer fan either, but I played Super Mario Strikers the other day, and its fun, in fact its lots of fun.

I hate simulation sports games, but the Mario sports franchise games don't feel like the sports they are portraying, they have their own arcade feel to them, and that's why they are fun. Anyone can pick them up without knowing a thing about the sport and enjoy it.

Will I pick up Mario basketball for the DS, I don't know, I might, I would be more likely to pick up Mario Hockey if they decide to make it.

What I'm really hoping for is Mario Golf on the DS....With online play of course.

Here is a link that was on 4cr to the official Nintendo Forums. Looks like the DS is getting better every day.
