Hand-built mini-NES
Hand-built mini-NES:
This is pretty cool, I have a broken NES in my closet and a small box of nintendo games that I would love to play, oh well, perhaps someday I'll find a way to fix my NES, I know it can be fixed for about 10 bucks, I just keep putting it off. The only drawback to this portable is you can't really play Duck Hunt or Hogan's Alley, which are two of my favorite games on the system.
Cory Doctorow: This hardware hacker rebuilt a Nintendo Entertainment System into a tiny, hand-held form-factor, ingeniously stuffing all the parts into a tiny case and rewiring the guts to run off batteries. He even laser-etched a professional-looking faceplate. God, I wish these things were in regular production -- hand-built, bespoke mini-NESes with a little explanatory card would make brilliant gifts.
